MMA News – April 6, 2011
- Two new UFC matches have been made, with lightweights Yves Edwards and Sam Stout squaring off at 132 and Erik Koch (pictured above) fighting Cub Swanson in a featherweight bout at UFC 131. Koch really made a name for himself with his recent knockout of Raphael Assuncao and he’s got a tough challenge in Cub Swanson.
- The UFC has also announced upcoming events for New Orleans and Pittsburgh. I can’t help but feel Chicago is getting the shaft. Not only is the UFC staying away, but now The Dark Knight Rises is filming in Pittsburgh instead of Chicago. With UFC fighters and Batman staying away from the city, Chicago has become some kind of barren lawless wasteland without mixed martial artists and bat men to save the day.
- Other recently announced fights: ranked middleweight Alexander Shlemenko will fight Brett Cooper at Bellator 44, while lightweight Satoru Kitaoka will fight Jutaro Nakao at DEEP Impact 53. Kazuo Misaki will also be making his long awaited MMA return at that DEEP event.
