June 2011 Fighter Rankings

It’s June! A new month!  Time for new fighter rankings!

As always, you can find the rankings and fight results for May in the archived rankings section of this site.

Heavyweight

  • Travis Browne is now the 20th ranked fighter after defeating Stefan Struve, who dropped from 18 to 23.

Light Heavyweight

  • Matt Hamill looked supremely disappointing in his decision loss to “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 130.  I dropped him one spot to 17, with Alexander Gustafsson moving to 16.  After that performance by “The Hammer”, I feel like Gustafsson is the more promising fighter at this point.

Middleweight

  • Jorge Santiago has gone from 7 to 1 following a loss to Brian Stann.  Stann now occupies the tenth spot in the rankings.

Welterweight

  • Thiago Alves plummets from 3 to 13 after his loss to Rick Story, who has entered the top ten at the 10th spot.

Bantamweight

  • Demetrious Johnson moves up from the ninth to seventh spots over his win over Miguel Torres, who goes from number six to number eight.
  • Masakazu Imanari’s win over Kenji Osawa was enough to move Imanari ahead of Zach Makovsky into the 15th spot.
  • Yoshiro Maeda’s loss to Hideo Tokoro may have been controversial, but it was enough to drop him out of the top 25.  Koetsu Okazaki will be taking his place.

Flyweight

  • Ryuichi Miki has been dropped from the rankings due to inactivity, while Kosuke Suzuki’s loss to Haruo Ochi drops him out of the 22nd spot.  Noboru Tahara and Ochi both move into the top 25.
