Light Heavyweight: Rashad Evans d. Tito Ortiz (TKO – Round 2, 4:48)

Evans looked much better than I thought he would after such a long layoff.  Ortiz hung in there, but never really mounted any significant offense.  Evans’ striking and grappling was far superior and he looked to be in fantastic shape.  Evans definitely looks ready to challenge the winner of Jones/Rampage for the light heavyweight title.  I think Ortiz vs. Rich Franklin or Vladimir Matyushenko make sense at this point.

Middleweight: Vitor Belfort d. Yoshihiro Akiyama (KO – Round 1, 1:54)

Belfort made relatively quick work of Akiyama in this one, landing heavy shots and knocking Akiyama out cold.  It looked like some of the punches were to the back of Akiyama’s head, but I think Belfort was well in control at that point and it was just a matter of time until Akiyama was finished.

Middleweight: Costantinos Philippou d. Jorge Rivera (Split Decision)

I thought that Rivera might have taken the decision, but Philppou came close to finishing the fight on multiple occasions and took the close split decision.  I’ll be the first to admit that I had Rivera significantly overrated, but this was still a nice victory for Philppou.  The Serra-Longo team is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the UFC and I’m anxious to see more fighters like Philippou and Chris Weidman get their shots in the UFC.

Welterweight: Rory MacDonald d. Mike Pyle (TKO – Round 1, 3:54)

MacDonald score a nice upset over Pyle via TKO and is quickly moving up the welterweight ranks.  With his only loss against Carlos Condit, MacDonald’s resume is starting to look pretty nice and he’s made quite a name for himself in 2011.

Welterweight: Brian Ebersole d. Dennis Hallman (TKO – Round 1, 4:28)

In a battle of weirdos, the fighter with an arrow shaved in his chest hair managed to score a nice TKO over the fighter wearing the Speedo trunks.  Hallman took control early, but Ebersole turned the tables and won with some vicious ground and pound.

Light Heavyweight: Alexander Gustafsson d. Matt Hamill (TKO – Round 2, 3:34)

Gustafsson looked impressive in knocking out a very tough opponent.  We’ve got two fighters going in opposite directions here as Gustafsson has been impressive as of late while Hamill has now lost two straight.

Featherweight: Chad Mendes d. Rani Yahya (Unanimous Decision)

Mendes passed this test quite easily, controlling this fight and taking a very clear decision.  Yahya never had a chance to display his BJJ and Mendes’ wrestling and striking were definitely superior.

Welterweight: Johny Hendricks d. Mike Pierce (Split Decision)

Featherweight: Mike Brown d. Nam Phan (Unanimous Decision)

Catchweight (138 lbs.): Ivan Menjivar d. Nick Pace (Unanimous Decision)

Middleweight: Rafael Natal d. Paul Bradley (Unanimous Decision)
